The Doc Otis Band is a voodoo swamp jazz, steamboat swing-slathered musical cacophony which has been distilled in the lead-laden foothills of the Missouri Ozarks & deep fat fried in a vat of the Big Easy.
We just finished the new album, Reflux of Humor, late January of 2026. You can stream it now on your favorite music streaming platform including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and YouTube Music. OR COME SEE US LIVE for FREE on Friday, June 19th, 2026 at the 4th Annual Summer Nights Arts Festival in Historic Downtown Farmington, MO from 8PM - 10PM
For those unfamiliar with us, this band was born from late-night jams, twisted musical curiosity and a thirst for something different, the Doc Otis Band emerged in late 2014 as a guitar-and-sax experiment that refused to stay small. A percussionist joined in late 2016, and over the next decade the band grew bigger and bolder—culminating in 2026 when a horn-heavy five-piece took the stage. The result is a theatrical sonic gumbo: voodoo swamp jazz’s unsettling charm, the rollicking pulse of steamboat swing, and the raw, joyous chaos of street music deep-fat-fried in a vat of the Big Easy. Our arrangements are dark, danceable, and unapologetically visceral—equal parts carnival and catharsis.
In early 2026 we released Reflux of Humor, a radical reworking of our 2018 trio album, Flux of Humor, reimagined for the expanded lineup and layered with horn-driven hooks, feral vocal harmonies and raucous rhythms. Currently we are crafting more original material that pushes our hybrid sound further—expect more horn-infused eruptions, sinister beats, and songs designed to make you move and misbehave in all the right ways.
